When you take a trip with Alaska Adventure Travel, you experience some the most rural destinations in Alaska. This trip is designed to be a custom trip depending on group size and interests.
The trip from Anchorage down to Nikolski will take a full day, after getting settled in at the lodge you will receive a hot cooked dinner. You will have six guided full days of adventures. On the 7th day of the trip you will head back to Anchorage. This adventure trip can be extreme or a relaxing island getaway… the choice is yours. The strong, subsistence population of this rural village on the Aleutian Archipelago is 18. Nikolski, which we like to refer to as a rural paradise, is a place where you can truly leave the crowds behind, view the power of nature in its most untouched form, and experience the unique life of the indigenous people. Archaeological evidence indicates that the village of Nikolski has been inhabited by the Unangax̂ for at least 8,500 years. Some repute that it is the oldest continuously occupied community in the world! Our local guides are descendants of this lineage and know the island like the back of their hands.
With 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the Nikolski Lodge can comfortably accommodate 8 to 10 people. During your downtime, you will enjoy a view of the village with the Vsevidof Volcano in the background from inside the lodge’s cozy living area. Your Umnak Island vacation is meant to be a stimulating combination of relaxation and adventure!
